Regisseur Tom Goossens plaatst twee artistieke zwaargewichten op scène: G.F. Händels opera Giulio Cesare in Egitto en W. Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. Bij Händel is Caesar nog springlevend; Shakespeare laat hem brutaal vermoorden.
De combinatie van beide werken resulteert in een pure voorstelling met even oprechte muziek gebracht door B’Rock Orchestra. Zangers van de International Opera Academy en theaterstudenten gaan aan de slag met barokke aria’s en dramatisch goud. Caesar zoals u hem niet eerder zag: in een Romeinse geschiedenissoap met humor én historisch respect.

Director Tom Goossens brings two artistic heavyweights to the scene: G.F. Händel’s opera Giulio Cesare in Egitto and W. Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. In Händel’s work, Caesar is alive and kicking; Shakespeare sees him savagely murdered.
The combination of both works results in a purified performance with equally honest music by B’Rock Orchestra. Singers of the International Opera Academy and theatre students plunge into Baroque arias and dramatic gold. Caesar as you never saw him before: in a Roman history soap with humor and historical respect.
