In addition to the cooperative links with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, Aalto-Musiktheater in Essen (Germany), Ópera de Oviedo (Spain), the Conservatoires in Antwerp, Brussels and Leuven and the School of Arts in Ghent, new collaborative ties have also been established with institutions and courses, cultural organisations and musical ensembles in Belgium and abroad (such as: Bijloke Music Centre Ghent, BOZAR, Music Theatre Transparant, Ghent Festival of Flanders, LOD music theatre, Minardschouwburg, Flanders Symphony Orchestra, Belgian National Orchestra (NOB), SPECTRA, Casco Phil (Chamber Orchestra), APOTHEOSIS and others).
Set up in 2013, the artistic board of the International Opera Academy now consists of delegates from various cultural and musical organisations (B’Rock Orchestra, Festival of Flanders, Flanders Symphony Orchestra, LOD, Music Centre De Bijloke, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, SPECTRA, Music Theatre Transparant and department heads of several singing courses (conservatories in Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent and Leuven).
The artistic board examines concrete ways to improve education, in order to meet the actual needs and requirements of the professional world. The board also initiates joint projects to allow students to become acquainted with professional practice during their training period.
Finally, the board considers developments in our sector and reflects on how these can be incorporated into activities at the IOA.
