Conductor Pietro Rizzo will work with the students on Italian operatic repertoire – focusing on interpretation, style and diction, trying to set the example on what should be done musically and technically when students prepare new repertoire of Italian opera. He will show them what it means to work with a conductor, what they should expect as well as what is expected from them.
This year, the focus will be mostly (though not entirely) on the preparation of the Gala, in which the repertoire will be taken from Mozart operas. Rizzo takes the students through the full musical process: meeting the conductor, working with him, rehearsing first with a repetiteur, rehearsing with the orchestra, and finally doing the performance.
