MOZART — STRAUSS — BRITTEN

In the remarkable setting of Het Predikheren in Mechelen, Dutch-Canadian soprano Juliana Cook takes the audience on a rich and varied musical journey through opera arias and songs by composers including W.A. Mozart, Richard Strauss and Benjamin Britten.

Juliana Cook earned her Master of Arts with highest distinction from the Royal Academy of Music in London, following a Bachelor’s degree in Opera Performance at the University of British Columbia. Her rich musicality and thoughtful dramatic presence, both on the opera stage and in concert repertoire, have been recognised with scholarships from organisations including the Fishmongers’ Guild and Canadian Centennial.

Since last year, Juliana has continued her artistic development at the International Opera Academy, where she has performed roles including Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte and Beth in Mark Adamo’s Little Women.

She is joined by Belgian pianist Martijn van Sas, a specialist in vocal accompaniment and art song. A graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Ghent and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Martijn has been recognised at several international song competitions.

An intimate concert in which voice and piano come together in music filled with lyricism, drama and refinement.
