Sophie Patterson is an American mezzo-soprano from Los Angeles, and an Alvarez Young Artist at Garsington Opera in 2025. She previously earned her MA at the Royal Academy of Music, following studies in Paris and a BMus from UCLA.
At the IOA she sang Dorabella (Così Fan Tutte) and Jo (Little Women). Other recent roles include Mrs. Herring (Albert Herring), Die Hexe (Hänsel und Gretel), and Sesto (La Clemenza di Tito). A prizewinner at international competitions, Sophie also appears regularly in recital, performing repertoire from Ravel to contemporary premieres. Sophie will be joining the Volksoper Wien Studio for the 2026/2028 season.
