Lulama Taifasi

Lulama Taifasi is a tenor from the Eastern Cape. In 2021, he completed his vocal studies at Trinity College in London with honours. He studied under Hanna and Albie van Schalkwyk and Grant McLachlan, and attended masterclasses with Eva Mei, Sara Mingardo, Bruno De Simone, Giulio Zappa and Matteo Pais.

He made his operatic debut as Gastone in Verdi's 'La Traviata' with Mamre Opera. At the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, he was in the young artists program under Gianni Tangucci and sang Benvolio in Gounod's 'Romeo and Juliet'. He sang the Fante del Consiglio dei Dieci in Verdi's 'I due Foscari' with Plácido Domingo. Lulama was a member of OperAvenir at Theater Basel, Switzerland. He was a finalist at the Riccardo Zandonai Competition, and XII Concorso Internazionale per Cantanti Lirici in Pienza. He won the Opera Sāo Paulo Prize, and won second prize at the Concorso Giulio Neri Internazionale Lirico, and two special prizes at the Concorso Lirico Città d'Alcamo.
