Kiup Lee was born in Seoul (Repulic of Korea) in 1992. In highschool, Kiup joined a male choir (as ‘first tenor’) and started studying music. He graduated with a major in vocal music at the age of 19.
He entered the department of vocal music at Kyung Hee University, where he graduated top of his class. Over the course of four years, he studied with Akyung Lee (mezzo), Byungkil Yoon (tenor), Jaedo Choi (tenor). Further, he attended masterclasses by Samuel Yoon and Hong Hye-kyung.
He performed as Nathanael in Les contes d’Hoffmann in Seoul Opera House, Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera in the Grand Peace Palace hall in 2013, Rodolfo in La bohème in the Crown Hall in 2015, and as Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore in 2016. Further, he sang solo parts in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and W.A.Mozart’s Requiem.
Finally, he sang Strauss’ Art songs Recital and Beethoven’s song cycle An die ferne Geliebte.
