Open Call for Tenors & Baritones ‘Seven Angels’

For our new opera production “Seven Angels” (Luke Bedford 2009) – under the musical direction of Filip Rathé in a staging by Stefaan Degand – the International Opera Academy offers a unique opportunity for aspiring Opera-Singers. More info below:

The IOA offers this opportunity to:

• a tenor to sing the roles of “Angel 4” and “Prince”
• a tenor to sing the roles of “Angel 5” and “Porter” and “Industrialist”
• a baritone to sing the roles of “Angel 6” and “Gardener” and General”

The production will be accompanied live by the SPECTRA ensemble.

Timings:

• Rehearsals at IOA/ Sint-Baafsabdij Ghent: 14/04/25 – 15/05/25
• Performances at Sint-Baafsabdij Ghent: 16/05/25 – 18/05/25

The IOA encourages to audition live, but is open for video auditions too:

• Live audition: at the International Opera Academy (Ghent): Monday 2 December ‘24 (afternoon)
  • Application deadline: Friday 29 November ‘24 (12/00 Middag)

Requirements for the audition: 

• Introduce yourself in English (also when you apply via video)

• Bring 3 aria’s, of which at least one is in English, and of which one is written by a contemporary composer.

*Participation can be organized within an Erasmus exchange programme and in accordance with the programme of the institute.
