Magda Thielemans started dancing at the Conservatoire of Leuven at the age of 8. In 1984 she obtained a professional bachelor’s degree, with distinction, at the Royal Antwerp Conservatoire. In addition to working as a dancer and a teacher, she has been developing physical awareness and command programs for singers and actors. Since 2008, Thielemans has teamed up with physiotherapist Anne Schütt in a research project, developing an injury prevention training for musicians playing an instrument. She is a member of the Corporeal and InArtes research-group. Togheter with the department of psychology she started a research program around mental pressure and coping strategies for artists.
Magda Thielemans is teaching and coordinating the physical awareness and movement training at the drama and music department of the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp.
At the IOA in Ghent she is supporting the students in their physical and expressive development through classes and workshops.
She regularly hosts pedagogical workshops and is a guest teacher of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel.
