Koen Bollen

Dramaturgy

Koen Bollen studied Art History and Theater Studies at the universities of Brussels, Leiden and Antwerp. He was dramaturgy assistant at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen (2009-2010) and dramaturgy staff member at the Junge Oper Stuttgart (2010-2014). He received the scholarship Musiktheater Heute 2012-2014 from the Deutsche Bank Stiftung. As a dramaturge, Koen Bollen worked on Frühlings Erwachen for the International Opera Academy in Ghent (direction: Guy Joosten), the world creation Tonguecat, after the book by Peter Verhelst, at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich in July 2016 and La clemenza di Tito for the Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier (direction: Jorinde Keesmaat). With Keesmaat, he also worked on Odysseus’ Women & Anaïs Nin, a diptych by the contemporary composer Louis Andriessen for the Centre of Contemporary Opera in New York. Since January 2016 he’s a dramaturge at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen. He was dramaturge in, among many other productions, the creations of Exhibition,Requiem and Pelléas et Mélisande by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.
